Clinical Professor Obstetrics & Gynaecology
Lesley Regan is Head of Obstetrics & Gynaecology at St Mary’s Hospital, Deputy Head of Surgery & Cancer at Imperial College London, Chair of Academic Committee for Promotion of People and Culture, Athena Swan champion and Director of the Women’s Health Research Centre at Imperial. Her principal clinical interests are in recurrent miscarriage and fertility sparing therapies for uterine fibroids. She has recently been appointed Chair of the National Confidential Enquiry into Patient Outcome and Death. Professor Regan is also Vice President for Strategic Development at the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, Chair of the FIGO Women’s Sexual and Reproductive Rights Committee and member of the Royal Society of Medicine’s Global Health Steering group. She has used the synergy of her many appointments to make a sustainable contribution to Global Women’s Health and is actively engaged in developing health care policy that encourages, educates and empowers women to promote their own health. More recently she was appointed Director of the RCOG Leading Safe Choices programme to improve the quality and delivery of Family Planning services in Sub Saharan Africa in order to reduce maternal mortality and morbidity. In 2015 she received an Honorary Fellowship from the American College of O&G and Doctorate of Science from University College London in recognition of her contributions to Women’s Health. In September 2016 Lesley will commence her 3-year term as President of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.
